Smoke in Latvijas Radio building prompts mass evacuation; broadcasts on hold

On Friday, the 5th of January, the building that houses Latvijas Radio had to be evacuated due to smoke. All broadcasts are on hold until the situation has been dealt with, according to Latvijas Radio update on X (formerly Twitter).
Latvian State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) told LETA that a call was received at 13:31 (local time) concerning smoke in an eight-storey public building located at Dome Square.
Rescuers are on the site, trying to determine the source of the smoke.
