From Friday, the 22nd of December, onward Riga Zoological Garden will be open every evening until 21:00, as announced by the zoological garden’s expert Māris Lielkalns.
“In the dark, it will shine brighter than other evenings, animals will dwell in the enclosures, and near the reindeer there will be a fire by which to warm up, watch the Latvian power signs created by the flames, or have a winter picnic. Entry to the zoological garden will cost EUR 5 in evening hours,” said Lielkalns.
Visitors will be able to warm up using indoor exhibitions at Flamingo House, Farmstead, Nile House, Terrarium, Aquarium, Giraffe House and Tropical House, where eternal summer reigns.
Visitors will be able to observe naked mole-rats and suricates, lizards, snakes, multicoloured fish, unusual insects. Maybe visitors will be lucky enough to see recently born baby galagos and night monkeys in the Tropical House Nocturnal Exposition. In addition, visitors will be able to spend a long time in the Tropical House, observing the smallest monkeys of the world and their ways of raising babies, because this family has recently become larger. Both babies currently tend to hold on tightly to their parents’ fur and look like large living backpacks.
Visitors of Winter Nights will be able to watch their favourite animals feed as well.
Visitors will be able to sign up for the excursion “Riga ZOO in the footsteps of celebrities” outside its usual time. A knowledgeable guide will tell about the most well-known inhabitants of the zoo of the past and present, as well as show areas that were previously inaccessible to other visitors.
The excursion is meant for families, adults, and entire groups of co-workers.
Riga Zoological Garden will be decorated for Christmas for the entire event.
