Latvian Sate Security Service (VDD) has commenced a criminal procedure over suspicion of a Latvian company potentially supplying electronic components that may be used for military purposes to the Russian Federation.
This criminal procedure was commenced on the 28th of November in accordance with Part 1 of Section 84 of the Criminal Law.
Information acquired during the investigation indicates that a Latvia-based company may have supplied
electric components that can be used for military purposes to the Russian Federation.
The total value of supplied goods exceeds EUR 500 000.
On the 4th of December VDD performed activities at locations associated with the Latvian company in question in Riga. Officers confiscated a large number of documents and data storage devices.
VDD also detained three people with ties to the company. Two of them are under arrest. The remaining one was applied with a security measure that does not involve deprivation of freedom.
VDD will provide more information about the investigation once it is appropriate to do so. The service reminds that no person is considered guilty until his or her guilt has been proven in accordance with the law.
