Solvita Āboltiņa to be appointed as Latvia’s ambassador to the Netherlands

Latvia’s ambassador to Italy Solvita Āboltiņa will be appointed as the country’s ambassador to the Netherlands, as reported by LTV.
Āboltiņa as a candidate for the aforementioned position has already been supported by the Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee during a closed meeting. Currently the embassy in the Netherlands is managed by an interim authorized clerk.
Āboltiņa is a former member of New Unity political party and Saeima speaker. She left politics after growing criticism of her work and plummeting popularity. In 2018, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs then led by New Unity member and current Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs, Āboltiņa was appointed as Latvia’s ambassador to Italy.
