The 1st of December will remain under an active cyclone’s influence. Snowing will continue in many areas. The cyclone will move further away and atmospheric pressure will go up slightly at the end of the week. This means less precipitation, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
December in Latvia will start off with cloudy skies. It will snow every now and then. North-eastern parts of Latvia will experience the heaviest precipitation. Snowing will worsen visibility. Roads will remain slippery! Daytime air temperature will stay at mostly -1° C… -5° C (0° C along the coast in Kurzeme), meteorologists say.
According to forecasts, the cyclone will withdraw on the weekend. Weather will become calmer but will still remain properly winter-like.
The sky will be cloudy and many areas will experience snowfall. There will be moments of clear sky, however. The wind will be slow. At night air temperature will drop to -7° C… -13° C (-1° C… -6° C in Kurzeme). Daytime air temperature will stay at -2° C… -7° C (+1° C… -2° C in western regions). The first half of next week will not be all that different from the first weekend. There will be moments of snowfall, but no significant growth of the layer of snow is expected. Wind speed will be slow. Air temperature at night may drop as far as -11° C… -16° C.
