Latvian Saeima receives state budget project for 2024

As previously reported, the Latvian government approved on the 1st of November the state budget project for 2024 and the budget content for 2024, 2025 and 2026. In the budget plan the consolidated budget revenue for 2024 is planned at EUR 14.486 billion, whereas expenditures are planned at EUR 16.212 billion.
General government, which covers the entire structure of state and municipal administration, as well as social insurance institutions, revenue for 2024 is planned at EUR 17.8 billion, where as expenditures are planned at EUR 19.1 billion. This means in 2024 the general government budget deficit is planned at EUR 1.3 billion or 2.8% of GDP.

Budget deficit for 2025 is planned at 2.3% of GDP, for 2026 deficit is planned at 0.9% of GDP.

The state debt for 2024 is planned at EUR 18.6 billion or 41% of GDP.
The three main priorities outlined for next year include internal and external security, education and healthcare.
Compared to the budget of 2023, the revenue planned for 2024 is EUR 1.763 billion larger. The state budget expenditures for 2024 are EUR 1.538 billion larger when compared to 2023.
Base budget’s planned revenue amounts to EUR 10.016 billion and expenditures amount to EUR 12.148 billion. Revenue of the special budget is planned at EUR 4.761 billion and expenditures – at EUR 4.356 billion.
