Unified natural gas distribution and storage operator Conexus Baltic Grid (Conexus) gas distribution system service tariff will grow by 37.3% starting with December, according to the information published by the Public Utilities Commission (SPRK) in the Latvian Herald.
According to the regulator’s decision, Conexus fee for the use of the exit point for the supply of Latvian users from December 1, 2023 will be EUR 0.0026488301 per kilowatt hour (kWh) excluding value added tax.
SPRK decision mentions that Conexus calculated tariffs based on the required revenues from the capacity reservation service of the natural gas transmission system. They cover technologically and economically justified costs necessary for the efficient provision of the capacity reservation service, ensuring the cost-effectiveness of the public service.
Conexus initially planned to increase the tariff by 38.5%, which would have had an effect equal to 0.5 – 1.1% for users. For a household that consumes 4 m3 of gas a month, the monthly gas bill would grow by 0.04 euros, whereas
for households that consume 250 m3 of gas a month,
the monthly gas bill would grow by 1% or 2.43 euros. For legal persons the tariff growth would reach 1.1%.
Conexus is responsible for the implementation of unified tariffs in Latvia’s gas distribution system and use of its gas storage facility.
Conexus’ largest shareholder is Latvian state-owned Augstsprieguma tīkls (68.46%). MM Capital Infrastructure Fund managed by Japanese Marubeni company owns 29.06%. 2.48% of Conexus shares are owned by other shareholders.
