Zelensky at UN: Russia’s “evil cannot be trusted”

On Tuesday, the 19th of September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a speech to the UN General Assembly in which he stressed the need for global unity to stop Russian aggression in Ukraine, noting the importance of international cooperation as Russia is “pushing the world towards the final war”, reports BBC.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to the UN General Assembly was a passionate call for the world to unite against Russian aggression. He stressed the need to

prevent a nuclear-armed Moscow from plunging the world into a catastrophic war.

He accused Russia of weaponizing everything and he has argued that other global problems, such as climate change, can only be tackled when Russian aggression is stopped.

He called for moderating weaponizing, punishment for war crimes, the return of deported people to their homes and for the occupiers to go back to their country. He also accused Moscow of “genocide” by kidnapping Ukrainian children.
President Zelensky warned against “shady deals” promising to end the war, stressing that the outcome of the war would have global consequences. He has claimed that Russia’s aim is to use Ukraine as a weapon against the rules-based international order. Zelensky stressed that the peace formula he has been working on for months

is not only for Ukraine, but for the whole world.

His message was particularly aimed at countries of the “Global South”, such as Brazil and India, which had so far remained neutral in the conflict.
