On NBC’s Meet the Press, Kristen Welker asked former US President Donald Trump on Sunday, the 17th of September, about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s support for his plan to resolve Ukraine’s conflict and Trump welcomed Putin’s support, reports Politico.
“I like that he said that because it means what I’m saying is right,” Trump said in an interview that was broadcast on Sunday.
In the interview, Trump underlined his positive relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding that he had a tough stance on Russia during his presidency. He said that he got along with Putin, stressing the importance of getting along with a country that has nuclear weapons.
He also claimed that
if the 2020 elections had not been “rigged”, the Ukraine crisis would never have happened.
He suggested that under his presidency, the Ukrainian conflict would not have arisen, and the country would have prospered and many lives would have been saved.
In May, Trump claimed that he could stop the war in Ukraine within 24 hours.
