The stranded vessel, the Ocean Explorer, with 206 people on board, has been stuck in mud and silt in the Alpefjord national park since Monday, the 11th of September. The ship is approximately 1 400 kilometres northeast of Greenland’s capital, Nuuk and fish trawler efforts to dislodge a luxury cruise ship have proved unsuccessful, citing Denmark’s Joint Arctic Command (JAC), reports Reuters.
The effort made by a large trawler during Wednesday’s high tide to free the cruise ship was unsuccessful.

Armed forces personnel stationed in Greenland have inspected the Ocean Explorer and confirmed that both the crew and passengers are in good condition. Despite the challenging circumstances, JAC states that the atmosphere on the ship is reported to be positive, and
everyone on board is doing well.
According to JAC, the Knud Rasmussen patrol vessel from the Danish navy is set to arrive at the Alpefjord site on Friday afternoon, the 15th of September. The JAC spokesperson mentioned that if everything goes well, the patrol vessel will assist the stranded ship in its emergency. However, the outcome will depend on the conditions observed when the vessel arrives on Friday.
