The Pentagon announced on Monday, the 11th of September, that Poland is potentially interested in buying the Integrated Air and Missile Defence Battle Management System, worth an estimated 4 billion US dollars, reports Reuters.
The Pentagon said the acquisition is part of Poland’s efforts to improve its air defence and as a NATO ally, it is investing in advanced defence capabilities to ensure the alliance’s collective security, which is why it has requested the second phase of a two-phase programme that includes
the PATRIOT Configuration-3+ system with upgraded sensors and components.
European countries’ increased interest in US weaponry, including munitions, air defence, communications equipment, Javelin missiles and drones, has grown significantly due to their key role in the Ukraine conflict.
According to a Pentagon statement, Northrup Grumman will be the prime contractor for the missile defence system.
