Approximately 65% of Latvian residents use social networks for more than two hours a day, according to a survey performed by Tele2 and Norstat.
Assuming this trends remains, it is possible that an average Latvian resident will have devoted approximately five years of his or her life to social networks..
According to results of surveys, 88% of Latvian residents use social networks.
What is interesting, however, is that social networks are less popular among men, because almost one-fifth of men claim they do not use social networks.
“Five years is a long time in the context of length of a human’s life. This is why it is important to assess how much time we give to this activity. We can “kill time” on social networks, aimlessly scroll down the screen, but we can also find valuable information to be used on work and hobbies, find inspiration, follow news and other developments, create interesting content, join discussions with industry professionals, etc. This is why our suggesting is looking at the pros and cons, as well as finding a balance for modern technologies in the world,” says Tele2 commercial director Raivo Rosts.
Looking at survey results in more detail, we can see that 36% of Latvian residents tend to spend on hour a day on social networks,
34% spend two hours, 16% spend three, and 14% spend four and more hours every day.
It is no surprise that youngsters aged 18 to 29 are the social group that spends the most time on social networks. For example, a quarter of youngsters spend more than four hours a day browsing social networks.
