On Tuesday, the 5th of September, LTV programme Panorāma mentioned that the seat of the head of the parliament could go to Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) Viktors Valainis.
At the same time, it is possible Valainis could accept a minister’s post in Evika Siliņa’s government.
However, in an interview to LTV programme Šodienas jautājums Saeima speaker Edvards Smiltēns mentioned that
he may be dismissed from his post after the approval of Siliņa’s government.
The politician said he has not received any letters from his voters, saying that the Combined List (AS) party’s decision to not join “Lembergs coalition” was wrong. He says they agree with him, adding that he hopes to weather this “hopefully short” period in opposition.
“By doing this, Unity and Progressive Party absolutely destroy any trust people had in them, the Saeima and the government,” said he politician, adding that saying “52 is more than 54, stagnation is dynamic” is Orwellism.
Smiltēns also said that New Unity needed help from AS in the coalition to “legalise bought presidential elections and legalise Aivars Lembergs”.

It is possible Armands Krause could be delegated for the post of Minister of Agriculture. Progressive Party may receive two or three ministries. Andris Sprūds could become the next Minister of Defence. LTV programme reports that both ZZS and Progressive Party are aiming to get the post of Minister of Transport for one of their members.
