PM candidate: JV, ZZS and Progressive Party will continue creating Latvia’s new government

New Unity (JV), the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) and Progressive Party (PRO) will continue working on the creation of the new government, said JV member and prime minister candidate Evika Siliņa at a press-conference on Friday, the 1st of September.
This announcement came after the Combined List (AS) publicly said the party will not join a government being composed by JV, ZZS and PRO.

Siliņa added that “the doors remain somewhat open” for parties that are prepared to put aside their ideological positions and agree on tasks that need to be completed.

But there is no time for “empty talks and long Tango dances” in the creation of the new coalition, said the prime minister candidate.
As previously reported, AS publicly announced its decision to not join the aforementioned three-party government. The party explains this decision that it “will not support an unstable government that weakens national security and international reputation with influence from [ex-Mayor of Venspils Aivars] Lembergs”.
