On Wednesday, the 29th of August, a cyclone will pass through Latvia’s territory, bringing a thunderstorm, heavy rain, hail and strong wind, meteorologists warn.
Rain clouds will likely be visible across the entire country the whole day, but the biggest risk of a thunderstorm is expected for Latvia’s eastern parts. Heavy rain may cause short-term floods. Wind speed may reach 30 m/sec. The diameter of hail may exceed five millimetres.
On Wednesday night and the afternoon a thunderstorm may affect Latvia’s central and western regions. Strong wind and hail are expected.
Clouds will move to the north from the south.
Minimal air temperature at night will be +13° C… +17° C, whereas maximum daytime air temperature is expected between +20° C along the coast in Kurzeme and +30° C in Latgale.
For Riga meteorologists promise rain from time to time, as well as thunderstorm activity, which could prove devastating. The wind is not expected to be strong at night. Air temperature will stay at around +16° C. The wind will blow from the south during the day. Maximum air temperature will reach +26° C.
