At the end of October 2021 the level of registered unemployment in Latvia was similar to Septembers and was 6% of economically active residents, according to information from the State Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of October 2021 there were 54 042 unemployed people registered with NVA, which is 482 fewer when compared to September, when 54 524 unemployed people were registered with the agency.
Unemployment was the lowest in Riga region – 4.2% and the highest was in Latgale – 13.9%.
In October the registered unemployment level increased only in Vidzeme – by 0.1 percentage points, reaching 6.1% of the economically active population.
In Kurzeme and Zemgale registered unemployment level did not change in October, remaining at 6% and 5.4% of the economically active population respectively.
In Riga the registered unemployment level did not change in October and was 4.1% of the economically active population.
In 2020 the registered unemployment level in Latvia was 7.7% of the economically active population. Last year unemployment in Latvia was the highest in July and August – 8.6%.
