The week will pass with dynamic weather conditions, according to Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. This week weather is expected to be volatile – weather will be rainy and windy. It is expected to get colder.
On Monday, the 7th of August, a cold atmospheric front will pass through Latvia, bringing thunderstorms to many parts of the country around the afternoon. Wind speed is expected to reach 20-24 m/sec. Heavy rainfall is expected. Local hail events are expected as well.
The thunderstorm will continue until night.
On Tuesday, the 8th of August, the rain, heavy in some areas, will come with a thunderstorm. Intensity of precipitation will go down in eastern and central regions by mid-day. Moderate to moderately strong south-eastern to south wind will increase in speed along the coast. The wind will be strong in all regions. Along the coast wind speed will reach 20-24 m/sec.
The heat from previous days will disappear entirely –
at night air temperature will drop to +14° C… +16° C, whereas daytime air temperature will not exceed +15° C… +20° C.
It will rain in many parts of the country in the coming days. On Wednesday the wind will blow from the south to south-west. At night wind speed along the coast will reach 20 m/sec, but the wind will calm down during the day. At night air temperature will be +10° C… +15° C, whereas daytime air temperature will be slightly above +20° C.
Current forecasts suggest there will be more precipitation at the end of the week. Nights will become slightly warmer, meteorologists say.
