Politologist says Rinkevičs’ speech at Song Celebration “was heard and accepted”

In his speech at the final concert of the Song and Dance Celebration, Latvia’s President Edgars Rinkevičs focused on dancers and singers, not himself. And he was heard, says politologist and public relations specialist Filips Rajevskis.
He added that humility towards the people brings benefits politicians in the long run. Looking at posts on social networks, people heard the main idea in his speech and have taken it positively. Rajevskis was also positive about the length of the new president’s speech.
The politologist also said that the Song Celebration speech is one of the most difficult presidential speeches – it needs to be spoken once every five years. This was Rinkēvičs’ second speech after taking office. Latvia’s previous president Egils Levits did not read a speech at the Song Celebration.
Rajevskis said that

the Song Celebration speech was similar to Rinkēvičs’ speech in the Saeima,

in which he tried to address the “spirit of a loser” that is common in Latvia’s society, which comes from ongoing discussions about Latvia’s economy being behind of its neighbouring countries and lack of progress. He said the point of the speech at the Song Celebration was to motivate residents to be proud of Latvia’s accomplishments.
On the 8th of July Edgars Rinkevičs replaced Egils Levits in the post of President of Latvia.
