As of the 1st of October 2023 Jurmala City entrance fee for cars will be EUR 3. On top of that, this fee will be in force year-round, as decided by the city council.
Members of the city council passed binding rules for the entry of vehicles to the special regime zone within Jurmala’s administrative territory, which will come into force on the 1st of October.
The objective of those rules is reducing the intensity of road traffic within Jurmala and promote use of environmentally friendly vehicles.
The new requirements also provide the option for visitors to purchase permits for longer periods of time: seven-day permit (EUR 10), 30-day permit (EUR 31), 365-day permit (EUR 180) and others.
Discounts of 30% to 90% are planned for workers of certain companies,
as well as large families, persons who work or study in Jurmala, Jurmala municipality’s budget institutions’ employees and other groups.
The money from the entry fee is used by Jurmala to develop tourism and resort-friendly environment, environmental protection, protection of cultural monuments, as well as public order and security, as noted in the annotation to the binding regulations.
The city council addressed information about income from the entry fee.
Last year the entry fee brought Jurmala’s budget a total of EUR 2.9 million, as well as EUR 15 million in fines charged for failure to acquire an entry permit.
