Although initial Covid-19 vaccination is important, there are groups of people who are recommended to sign up for a third or booster shot.
Booster shots are for:
people older than 65 years;
people aged 18 years or older who live in social care centres, nursing homes or work in healthcare, which have the highest risk of Covid-19 infection;
people aged 50 or older who suffer from chronic illnesses and therefore a higher right of Covid-19 infection;
all who have received Jannsen vaccine injection – regardless of age.
Booster shots should be administered no sooner and no later than six months after a full course vaccination (two shots) using Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine) or Vaxzevria (prev. AstraZeneca) and within eight months of receiving Spikevax (prev. Moderna) vaccine.
