During the NATO summit, flights at the Vilnius airport will be suspended, and restrictions will be imposed in the airspace for almost a week, which will also apply to small-sized aircraft, writes the Lithuanian public media LRT.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania informed on Friday, the 14th of April, that NATO security requirements require traffic to be prohibited within a radius of 30 kilometers from the Litexpo exhibition center during the summit. Flights at Vilnius airport will be suspended from noon on the 11th of July to 2 PM on the 12th of July.
The Ministry also noted that taking into account the expected very intensive air traffic at Vilnius and Kaunas airports during the summit,
flight delays and other disruptions are possible.
It is recommended to avoid using these airports on these days.
The official statement states that from the 7th of July to the 13th of July, the ban on small planes, balloons, or flying robots flying over the territory of Lithuania will also be in force.
It is planned that the NATO summit will bring together about 40 delegations from the alliance member states and partner countries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also invited to the summit.
