CSP reports internet stores had the biggest increase among retailers in September

Compared to September 2020, total retail trade turnover rose by 3.9 %in September 2021. Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 1.9 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) increased by 7.6 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel – by 5.6 %.
Compared to September 2020, the largest turnover growth was recorded in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 22.6 %), retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (11.1 %) and retail sale of hardware, instruments, construction materials and sanitary equipment (10.0 %), according to data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
Total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 9.7 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).
Compared to August, in September 2021, the total turnover of retail trade enterprises rose by 0.4 %, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Turnover of retail trade in food products grew by 1.7 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) decreased by 0.9 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel – increased by 1.6 %.
As compared to the previous month, the most significant turnover growth was recorded in retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (of 2.0 %). The most notable turnover drop was recorded in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 5.8 %), retail sale in stalls or markets (4.3 %), as well as retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (4.1 %).
Compared to August, in September 2021 the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) decreased by 5.5 %.
