Russian attacks decrease; the heaviest battles still at Bakhmut

Ukrainian army officials reported that Russian forces managed to make some progress on the Bakhmut front, however, Ukrainians still continue to defend the city, writes Reuters.
In southern Ukraine, Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has informed that there is an influx of Russian soldiers in the vicinity of Zaporizhia, and it is no longer possible to guarantee the safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
Bakhmut and its nearby towns have been the focal point of Russian attacks, especially in recent months. Both sides suffer heavy losses in the battles, but neither managed to make significant progress and gain complete control of Bakhmut. The leadership of the Ukrainian army stated in the report that the Russians managed to achieve some success, but the Ukrainians still hold the city.
The intensity of Russian attacks is reported to be decreasing in recent weeks,

from an average of 124 per day in the first week of March to an average of 69 per day over the past seven days.

Battles and shootings continue around the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and despite fears of a nuclear disaster, it has not been possible to establish a safety zone around the NPP station. Grossi said at the press conference that he would now focus on specific protection measures that would satisfy both Ukraine and Russia.
Oleh Zhdanov, a Ukrainian military expert and reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that although the fighting around Bakhmut is still intense, it can be concluded that Russian soldiers have started to move from one place to another.
Britain’s Ministry of Defense has described the progress of the Russian army as negligible, and the US has reported that the Russians have failed to advance near Bakhmut in the past three weeks. The Ukrainian army has informed that the shelling of Kherson has resumed.
The Ukrainian Air Force managed to destroy a Russian Su-24M bomber. In places where the Russian army is concentrated, an ammunition depot and two fuel depots were shelled.
