Polish authorities uncover Russian spy network

Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) has detained six foreigners from a Russian spy network that was planning to sabotage the country’s railway, Polish Radio reports.
The spied had plans to focus on diversion on railway infrastructure, especially in the country’s eastern parts near Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, which is the main hub for Western arms supplies to Ukraine.

RMF FM reports these foreigners operated in Russia’s interests and were preparing various acts of sabotage.

Polish special services and police forces are on high alert after this situation. RMF FM correspondent reported that focus is put on protection of strategically important railway infrastructure and critical infrastructure.

«ABW officers detained them after having found hidden cameras along important railway routes and railway hubs. These cameras recorded movement along these routes and sent footage to the network,» the statement mentions.

On Thursday, the 16th of March, it is planned to public an official statement about this spy network, as confirmed by Stanislav Zarin, the press-secretary of the Minister-Coordinator of the Special Services of Poland.
