Approximately 2.5 tonnes of natural uranium «go missing» in Libya

According to Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, approximately 2.5 tonnes of natural uranium is missing from a site in Libya.
He reported on Wednesday, the 15th of March, that IAEA inspectors concluded that ten barrels containing uranium ore went missing from a site in Libya. IAEA will continue the investigation to determine what happens and where the missing uranium was taken.
In 2003 during the rule of Muammar Gaddafi Libya renounced nuclear arms production programme. Libya has been in chaos since 2011, when NATO-backed uprising saw Gaddafi removed and then killed. There are now two competing governments and many groups of militants vying for power in the country.
