Cert.lv warns Latvian residents of scammers pretending to be VID

Information technologies security incident prevention institute in Latvia Cert.lv warns residents of scammers pretending to be representatives of the State Revenue Service (VID).
Cert.lv invites residents to be vigilant, because scammers have started sending text messages on behalf of VID.
Messages sent by scammers include a link that leads users to a phishing site that imitates SEB Bank and Luminor internet banks homepages.

The goal for scammers is acquiring victims’ internet banking access data, Cert.lv stresses.

Cert.lv is a structure under the University of Latvia Mathematics and Informatics Institute. Its objectives is maintaining a uniform representation of the activities taking place in the electronic information space, providing support in prevention of IT security incidents or coordinating their prevention within Latvian OP range and .lv domains.
