Jugla branch office of Riga social care centre was reconstructed for a total of EUR 293 000, as reported by the centre’s public relations specialist Inga Jaunzeme-Grīnvalde.
The centre promises the reconstruction will help provide clients with higher quality services, as well as wheelchair accessibility.
According to Ezerniece, the reconstruction will help provide better healthcare services, as well as more aesthetically satisfying and modern work environment for medical staff and environment accessibility in general.
For example, reconstruction has expanded the doors to allow entry to medical room by wheelchair. Corridors have been fitter with special handrails to help blind people or people with poor eye sight to move around safely.
According to her, similar reconstruction is necessary for the cellar portion of the Physiotherapy Sector. The centre in Jugla is frequented by the blind patients from Jugla and patients from Ezerkrasti and Kalnciems in need of consultation and aid from podologists, olftalmologists and other specialists.
The reconstructed centre now features markings on stairs, handrails, as well as tactile markings to indicate each floor. The entrance has been fitted with a door bell with communication functionality, voice announcements, light alarms, hoist, ramp – ramp for wheelchairs, car parking.
Reconstruction work was performed by Babītes būve LLC following the contract signed on the 29th of August 2022.
The festive opening is scheduled for Wednesday, the 22nd of February. The reconstructed building will be opened by Minister of Welfare Evika Siliņa, who will symbolically attack the plaque with Braille writing on the doors of the reconstructed building.
The ceremony will be attended by acting director of VSAC Riga Elita Ezerniece, as well as heads of all six branches. The manager of Babītes būve LLC Matīss Strods, Braila Street 2 real estate property manager Šampētera nami LLC representative Inese Muhka and others. At the end of the ceremony there will be a concert.
Similar reconstruction work was performed at VSAC Riga branch office Teika. Reconstruction costs reach EUR 3 million. The updated centre is planned to be unveiled in March.
