Frequent snowing expected this weekend; March to start off with calm and mostly dry weather

The weekend in Latvia will be rich in precipitation. At times the layer of snow will increase by 5 – 7 cm. In some regions roads may become slippery! Weather will remain cold in the last days of February. At night, air temperature may drop as far as -15° C, according to Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
March will start off without major precipitation. Daytime air temperature will rise above 0° C.
It will be overcast on Friday. Roads in many parts of the country will be slippery – motorists are urged to be cautious! Daytime air temperature will stay at -2° C… +3° C.

On Saturday weather will be cloudy as well.

Snowing is expected and will be lasting at times – the layer of snow will increase by another couple of centimetres. Fog will form at night and morning hours. This means poor visibility. The wind will be slow and will blow from the north and north-west. Wind speed along the coast may reach 17 m/sec. At night and during the day air temperature will be at -2° C… +2° C.
On Sunday weather will be overcast with snowing every now and then. The wind will blow from the north and north-west. Air temperature at night will stay at -1° C… -6° C.
At the end of February, as anticyclone activity increases, the sun will shine every now and then. Weather is expected to be mostly dry. On Monday and Tuesday air temperature at night in most of the country will drop to -5° C… -10° C (-15° C in eastern parts of the country).
The first days of March will start off with calm and dry weather. Air temperature at night will stay below 0° C. Daytime air temperature will reach +5° C.
