Calm and foggy weather expected in Latvia this week; precipitation to return in second half

The week will start off with calm weather. No major precipitation is expected. Fog will appear in many parts of Latvia, making driving conditions more complicated, warns Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Air temperature during the day will mostly remain above 0° C. At night, however, air temperature may drop as far as -10° C. The end of the week is expected to be rich with precipitation.
On Monday, the 13th of February, air temperature is expected at +2° C… +6° C. At night air temperature is expected to drop to -1° C in eastern parts of the country.
On Tuesday there will be fewer clouds and more sun. No major precipitation is expected. Fog may form in some areas in the afternoon and may remain up until next morning. Wind speed will be slow to moderate. Air temperature at night will reach +1° C… -3° C at night in eastern parts of Latvia and 0° C… +3° C in western parts. Air temperature will stay within +1° C… +7° C.

In the middle of the week, as slow to moderate southern wind continues blowing, the amount of clouds will increase again,

but no significant precipitation is expected. On Wednesday weather will be mostly cloudy. Some clear sky is expected in eastern parts of the country. Air temperature at night will drop to -5° C… -10° C (0° C… -5° C in western parts of the country). During the day air temperature will reach 0° C… +5° C.
Weather will remain cloudy on Thursday. Air temperature at night will stay within -1° C… +2° C in Kurzeme and -5° C… +8° C in eastern parts of Latvia. Daytime air temperature will be -2° C… +4° C.
At the end of the week, according to current forecasts, weather in Latvia will be dictated by the southern portion of an active cyclone. Precipitation is expected in all of Latvia.
