Zelensky meets Macron and Scholz in Paris

After his visit to Great Britain, President of Ukraine went to meet the Chancellor of Germany and the President of France to advance negotiations on the transfer of fighter jets, the BBC reports.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Paris on the 8th of February. On the 9th of February, Zelensky plans to visit Brussels, and most likely he will call for the supply of fighter jets to Ukraine during the meeting with the leaders of the European Union.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Macron and Scholz, Zelensky said France and Germany have the potential to turn the tide of the war by providing Ukraine with tanks, advanced fighter jets and long-range missiles.
The French president informed that Ukraine can count on his country’s support and France is committed to helping Ukraine win and restore its legal rights. The German chancellor added:

«The position is unchanged: Russia must not win this war.»

For now, the question remains open whether it means that the Western countries will supply fighter jets to Ukraine. Both the French president and the German chancellor have repeatedly received criticism for being too slow to support Ukraine.
It is reported that British Defense Minister Ben Wallace is currently evaluating which aircraft would be most suitable for Ukraine, however, it is emphasized that this is a long-term solution, and pilot training may take years. Moscow has already announced that it will give an answer if fighter jets are handed over to Ukraine.
