The end of the week will not have much precipitation in Latvia. However, next week multiple precipitation zones will pass through Latvia’s territory, bringing precipitation and strong wind, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On the night to Friday, the 27th of January, a cold atmospheric front passed through Latvia’s territory. During the day, the sky will remain mostly covered by clouds. Some snow is expected in eastern parts of the country.
Roads will be slippery in some areas. In eastern parts of Latvia roads will be slippery and fog may appear.
Motorists are urged to be especially careful!
On Friday the wind will blow from the north. Daytime and night-time air temperature will be between +1° C… -3° C.
Saturday, the 28th of January, will be cloudy as well without major precipitation. At night the wind will be slow, whereas during the day wind speed will increase and will reach 15 m/sec along the coast. At night air temperature will drop to -3° C… -8° C. Daytime air temperature will reach -1° C… -6° C. In Kurzeme air temperature may reach 0° C… +2° C.
On Sunday, the 29th of January, the sky will remain cloudy with moments of clear sky at night.
Meteorologists expect snow and wet snow, as well as rain, but mostly in the west. The wind will blow from the south-west and west and will be slow to medium. Minimal air temperature will reach -2° C… -7° C. In Kurzeme it will be at -1° C… +3° C. With cyclone activity up, daytime air temperature will be above 0° C in most of the country, except eastern parts, where air temperature will drop below 0° C.
At the start of the week the sky will be mostly cloudy. On the nigh to Monday, the 30th of January, a new precipitation zone will start passing through the country, bringing lasting precipitation to the entire territory – mostly wet snow and rain. Some snow is expected in eastern parts of the country. Precipitation will gradually calm down, however, and by the afternoon sun will appear between the clouds.
Together with the precipitation zone, wind speed will increase to 15-17 m/sec (20-22 m/sec along the coast). On Tuesday, the 31st of January, the wind will blow from the north-west and west. Air temperature will stay at -1° C… +4° C.
On Wednesday, the 1st of February, a new cyclone will approach the country from the north-west. Many parts of the country will experience wet snow and snow. Strong wind is expected along the coast. Air temperature in most of the country at night will drop to -1° C… -6° C, whereas daytime air temperature will drop below 0° C only in some eastern areas. In the rest of the territory air temperature will drop to° 0 C… +4° C.
