Swedish-German company to build sea wind turbine park near Kurzeme

Swedish wind park developer Eolus and German PNE company have plans to construct a wind turbine park along the coast of Kurzeme with a possible power output of approximately 1 000 MW by the year 2030, as confirmed by both companies.
The project is planned to be implemented in the Baltic Sea off Latvia’s western coast. The wind turbine park is expected to generate 4.5 TWh of electricity annually. Eolus has been working on this project since 2020, performing mostly initial surveys. Since the 18th of January 50% of shares of Eolus’ owned Kurzeme Offshore LLC is owned by German wind energy company PNE. The other half is owned by the Swedish company.

This LLC was founded in June 2022 with base capital of EUR 2 800.

Both companies mentioned the potential for development of renewable energy in Baltic States. After receiving survey rights it is planned to commence environmental evaluation, as confirmed by both companies. Eolus, founded in 1990, operates in Nordic countries, Baltic States, Poland and US. The company has constructed 666 wind turbines with power output in 1 414 MWh. PNE develops wind turbine parks along the coast line and the coast. It also offers various energy-related solutions.
