Unity’s «grey cardinal» leaves post in the political party

After eleven years of service Artis Kampars will soon loose his post as secretary general in Unity political party in Latvia, as reported by Latvijas Avīze.
Neither Kampars, nor the party’s chairman Arvils Ašeradens say who will take over as the new secretary general. Both say the transition period will be gradual, during which

Kampars will continue performing his duties until a replacement has been found and all duties have been successfully transferred to the successor.

Kampars will remain in the party. He promises to remain active. Ašeradens allowed Kampars may continue working in the party in a different capacity. He did not say which exactly, only promised to say once a new party strategy has been developed. It is planned to be presented at Unity’s congress in August.
«A new cycle has commenced and new people should come in. It was a mutual agreement. There was no conflict here,» added Kampars. He says he does not see himself in the state administration any more. He also said he may return to doing business in the future.
