Flood in Ādaži private houses area; residents evacuated

With water levels increasing in Gauja River, on Tuesday, the 3rd of January, flooding happened in a private houses territory in Ādaži, as confirmed by Latvian State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD).
In the morning on Tuesday rescuers received a call from Nūrnieku Street, where territory with private homes became flooded as a result of water levels rising in Gauja River. The territory was surveyed together with Ādaži local administration.

Rescuers used a boat to evacuate people and pets from local houses.

Nine people and two pets were evacuated using a boat, as confirmed by VUGD. Two cars were also evacuated from the flooded area. Eight people refused to evacuate. VUGD concluded efforts around mid-Tuesday. Municipal police remain stationed in the area.
According to reports from the municipal council on social media, Strautkalnu road is also partially flooded. Efforts to clear it of ice continue. Local residents are urged to use a different road.
Water levels in Gauja Rive has gone up by 35 cm in Carnikava, reaching 1.25 m. Municipal police continue monitoring the situation.
