On December 14, the municipality of Tallinn decided to donate 20 diesel-powered buses to the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine, writes the Estonian media ERR News.
Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart said in a press release: «Tallinn has been supporting Ukrainian municipalities since the beginning of the war, and in addition to previous support, we are now donating 20 well-maintained buses to the local government of Zhytomyr Oblast.» He added that many of the functions provided by Ukrainian municipalities are affected by the war, such as public transport, utilities and the education process. Tallinn is trying to provide the necessary assistance.
The municipality has given consent for Tallinn’s public transport provider TLT, to donate 20 buses to Zhytomyr region.
The cost of delivering the buses will be covered by TLT, but the delivery will be organized together with the Estonian Red Cross.
The capital of Estonia has already donated ambulance cars and laptops to use in Zhytomyr region. Tallinn has also delivered critical equipment to a water supply company in Chernivtsi and sent humanitarian aid cargoes to Kyiv and Lviv to support the Ukrainian Red Cross.
