Although no precipitation is expected on the weekend, cyclone activity will increase again – strong wind will blow across all of Latvia. In northern parts of Kurzeme wind speed will exceed 20 m/sec. As a new precipitation zone starts passing through the country, which will bring more precipitation, a blizzard is expected, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Friday, the 9th of December, the sky will gradually become clear even though weather will be dictated by a cyclone. Maximum daytime air temperature is expected between 0° C… -6° C.
Weather conditions will be influenced by a high atmospheric pressure area from the east. This is why no precipitation is predicted.
On Saturday, the 10th of December, the sky will be partially cloudy. On Sunday, the 11th of December, the sky will be covered in a thick layer of clouds. Wind speed will be low. At night air temperature will drop to -8° C… -13° C (-4° C… -7° C along the coast). Daytime air temperature will remain at -4° C… -9° C (-2° C… -5° C in the north of Kurzeme).
On the night to Monday, the 12th of December, a wide precipitation zone will pass through the country’s territory from the south. Meteorologists predict intense snowfall. At night and during the day air temperature will stay between -2° C… -7° C. On Monday and Tuesday, the 13th of December, intensive snowing is expected in the entire country. Meteorologists warn of possibility of strong blizzard.
