The media has obtained photos showing that sleeping places have been arranged in the offices of Twitter employees, and the San Francisco authorities have begun investigations into violations of the rules for the use of buildings, writes the BBC.
A photograph obtained by the BBC shows a double bed, a wardrobe, and a pair of slippers, and the San Francisco authorities confirmed they have launched an investigation into the misuse of the premises. Another picture shows sofas that are adjusted for sleeping and an alarm clock in a meeting room. A former employee pointed out that Elon Musk regularly spends the night in the office.
In a now-deleted Twitter post, Musk said city officials were attacking him for providing rest to tired workers. He himself will sleep and live in the office while the organizational issues are sorted out. No official comments have been received from Twitter.
California State senator Scott Wiener told:
“He’s now making them sleep at Twitter. It’s clear that he doesn’t really care about people. He doesn’t care about the people who work for him.”
The media reports that the current situation is better than sleeping bags on the floor next to the work table, but this does not convince the building board. It indicates that buildings intended for even short-term overnight stays have other conditions. On the other hand, Musk stated in response to a journalist that the city should rather worry about how to protect children from the consequences of opioid use.
In 2020, Twitter management announced that employees will be able to continue working from home as long as they want. That all changed in November after Musk took over the company. He announced that from now on all employees should work in the office.
