Explosions in military airfields expose Russian air defences

After two explosions yesterday, another explosion happened today, the 6th of December, this time at the Russian military airfield in the Kursk region, Reuters reports.
Kursk officials have published photos that show smoke from burning at the airfield. The governor of Kursk stated that the fuel storage tank caught fire, but there were no casualties. Kyiv has not taken responsibility for the incident.
British Ministry of Defense announced that these incidents will be considered a great mistake in defense by Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense reports three dead in the explosion in Ryazan. Although the attacks only hit military targets, Russia has already called them terrorist attacks and said its long-range aircraft was the target.
Ukraine does not recognize the connection with the explosions at the airports. Asked about the drone strikes, the Ukrainian defense minister repeated a joke about smoking in unauthorized places. Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, elaborated, noting that Engels Air Force Base was the only place in Russia fully equipped to service large bombers.

«They will try to disperse their air force in different places, but this makes it difficult to attack Ukraine. Yesterday, thanks to their careless smoking, we achieved good results,»

Arestovych said.
The strike has caused concern in Russian social networks, where users have concluded that Ukraine is also capable of striking Moscow.
The base in the Saratov region is about 600 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Russia responded to blasts in airfields with a new attack it called a “strike on Ukraine’s military system,” although residential buildings and the power grid were mostly hit. Ukraine says it shot down more than 60 of the 70 missiles fired by Russia.
