Latvian parliament to decide on creation of a new ministry and vice-minister post in final reading

On Thursday, 1 December, the Saeima will discuss the topic of the Ministry of Climate and Energy, as well as the topic of vice-minister posts even though the Legal Affairs Committee previously rejected both proposals.
Legislative drafts regarding both ideas were included for the second and final reading.
The Saeima also has a legislative draft on the participation of Latvian National Armed Forces in the initiative to restore the safety of international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz as part of Sentinel Operation.
Members of the 14th Saeima will also decide on submitting several other new legislative drafts to committees for review. Among them are amendments that are intended to simplify licensing of copyrighted content and online services of broadcasting companies.
The Saeima will also have to decide whether to submit to committees amendments that provide for sending residents information about threats to their mobile phones if different dangerous situations appear.
Deputies will also decide whether to review amendments that provide for not publishing in state officials’ declarations information about ranks in the National Guard and income gained from service in the National Guard. The Saeima will also discuss amendments to help improve the insolvency monitoring system.

There are a total of 22 topics on the Saeima’s agenda for 1 December.

It is also planned deputies of the 14th Saeima will continue discussing topics left from the extraordinary meeting held on the 24th of November.
