On the G7 justice ministers’ meeting on the 29th of November Marco Buschmann, the German Justice minister admitted that Germany has to take part of the responsibility for the war in Ukraine, since it supported Nord Stream 2 project, writes Politico.
Buschmann said that Germany pushed for Nord Stream 2 and it contributed to Russia’s aggression. He told in his opening address: «Knowing what we do today, the decision to pursue Nord Stream 2 following the annexation of Crimea in 2014 was Germany’s contribution to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.»
This opinion is opposite of that of Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who supported the Nord Stream 2 project for a long time. Now, Buschmann pointed out, Germany should draw the right conclusions from it.
