On the 29th of November, former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev warned NATO that providing air defense to Ukraine can lead to a serious response from Russia, writes Reuters.
Dmitry Medvedev recently is known for his strong support of Russia’s war in Ukraine and gives bold statements about Western countries on his social networks. He announced that NATO is a criminal organization that supports the extremist regime of Ukraine. At the time of his presidency, Medvedev was considered quite liberal.
In his channel on the social messaging app Telegram, Medvedev wrote on the 29th of November that delivery of air defense systems Patriot could lead to great consequences: «They would immediately become a legitimate target of our armed forces.»
He didn’t elaborate on what exactly will be Russia’s target – NATO, its personnel, or Patriot air defense systems.
This follows a pledge from NATO to step up their support for Ukraine to help protect its infrastructure. Medvedev meanwhile has said that the civilized world doesn’t need NATO and it must be dissolved.
