8989 Covid-19 hotline to be shut down in Latvia soon

From 1 July 2022 onward the 8989 Covid-19 hotline in Latvia will be shut down temporarily. The reason is the drop of Covid-19 infection cases, as confirmed by Latvian National Health Service (NVD).
Until now consultants provided residents with the option to sign up for Covid-19 vaccination and information about vaccination and digital Covid-19 certificates.
Since the start of 8989 hotline in February 2021, more than 720 000 consultations have been provided to residents in Latvia. Consultants have also answered more than 45 000 e-mails dealing with the topic of vaccination and digital certificates.
Residents will be able to sign up for Covid-19 vaccination using www.manavakcina.lv or by contacting their general practitioner or their nearest healthcare institution’s vaccination office.
If a pensioner wants to sign up for a jab at home, NVD suggests dialling 80001234 (open hours: Monday–Thursday 08:30–17:00; Friday 08:30–15:00).
Residents can look up news about Covid-19 certificates at www.vmnvd.gov.lv section Digital Covid-19 certificate.
NVD explains that depending on the spread of Covid-19 infection this autumn, it is possible 8989 hotline may be restored.
