20 candidates sign up for competition to become next director of State Revenue Service

A total of 20 contenders have signed up for the competition to find a new head of the State Revenue Service, as confirmed by the State Chancellery.
The competition, which was announced on the 5th of October, will be organised in three stages. In the first stage the committee will look at submitted documents and at contenders’ compliance with specific requirements.
The State Chancellery notes that in the second stage contenders will present their motivation to get this post, answer questions from members of the committee and present their vision for VID’s strategic development until 2029 to make it one of the most effective tax and customs administrations in Europe.

In the selection process in the third stage contenders will be tested for various management skills:

strategic vision, team-leading, managing changes, forming and maintaining relations, as well as result-focused work.
The winner of the competition will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.
The selection committee is led by Director of the State Chancellery Jānis Citskovskis. Members include the head of the State Treasury Kaspars Āboliņš, Ministry of Finance state secretary Baiba Bāne, CERT.LV IT Security Incidents Prevention Institute Baiba Kaškina and Minister of Finance advisor for policy-related topics Sanda Liepiņa.
There are also independent observers: director general Latvian Employers’ Confederation’s Kaspars Gorkšs, board chairman of Latvian Chamber for Commerce and Industry Jānis Endziņš, and chairperson of Foreign Investors Council in Latvia Zlata Elksniņa-Zaščirinska.
