The debt held by the son of once the prime minister of Latvia Vilis Krištopans, 14th Saeima deputy Kristaps Krištopans, who is a member of Latvia in First Place (LPV), reaches nearly EUR 0.9 million, according to information from the politician’s income declaration.
When he became Saeima deputy, Krištopans submitted his income declaration as state official. In it, he listed a Mercedez Benz SLK 230 (2000). The declaration does not list any real estate or any other jobs alongside his post as state official.
Krištopans did not list any savings that would exceed 20 minimal wages. However, the declaration does list seven debt positions, the total size of which reaches EUR 897 781.
According to information available on Firmas.lv, Krištopans filed for insolvency in the second half of 2021.
His father, meanwhile, listed in his declaration as Saeima deputy that he owns land in Garkalne, as well as shares in two companies – Berģu Tūjas LLC and Upes-Plostiņi LLC. The total value of these shares reaches EUR 5 944. Krištopans Sr. also owns a Toyota C-HR (2017).
Krištopans has cash savings worth EUR 12 500. No non-cash savings that exceed the 20 minimal monthly wage mounts are listed in his income declaration. He did list four lending positions worth approximately EUR 56 000.
Both men were elected to the 14th Saeima as members of Ainārs Šlesers’ political party Latvia in First Place. In the 14th Saeima Vilis Krištopans works in the Budget and Finance Committee and National Defence Committee. His son is a member in the Legal Affairs Committee and European Affairs Committee.
